Endpages for a Bestseller

Last winter I was contacted by writer/ blogger Jenny Lawson about one of my fabric designs. She was hoping to use it for the endpages of her up coming book. Months later "Let's Pretend This Never Happened (A Mostly True Memoir)" was launched and has become a huge hit.

Let's Pretend This Never Happened (A Mostly True Memoir)

I was thrilled to find it in my local bookstore and after seeing the front cover for the first time totally understood why Jenny chose my pattern.

For more info on the book here's Jenny's site.

Colourful Scarves

Exciting news, I will soon have some work for sale in Workshop Boutique and Flock Boutique in Ottawa. I have been producing designs for textiles for a while now and recently turned some of my patterned fabrics into scarves. They are 100% cotton and digitally printed with eco friendly inks.  More pictures coming soon!

Rayfield Consulting Inc

Mid February marked the launch of the new Rayfield website. It is a work in progress, however I recommend checking it out. I've been working with The User Advocate Group (TUAG), a Toronto based company to design the site.
One of the features I find really interesting is that this site is responsive, meaning that the components on the page scale themselves according to the size of the viewers browser. As soon as it was launched I was playing with this feature and the various button on the site. I still find it fun to see my work completed and usable.

Mealplan and Skateway

Here are a couple recent design projects for some apps.

The first is Mealplan, as well as the buttons and textures I designed the icon and loading window. Mealplan is an aid in planning what you eat for each meal of the day. Hence the fridge theme that is carried through both images.

Skateway is the other app I worked on. It provides up to date info on the skating conditions of the Ottawa Rideau Canal. The project was to take the existing logo area and spruce up the snowflakes a bit.

I worked on two versions, the second being for the Ipad.

The Beginning

Under the name Octochair Studios I create both personal work as well as contract graphic design pieces. I will be sharing everything I do here as well as things and people that inspire or intrigue me.

Currently I am in the middle of working on a website design job as well as some icons for an up and coming app.

I am also in the midst of painting illustrations for a book of my own creation and will have some progress pictures up soon.

Welcome to the blog!
